Hello! (An Introduction)

Hello!  My name is Josefa and I believe that this, here, is a blog (though it is nearly as new to me as it is to you).  In order for us to all get to know one another, I’ll first give you some background on me, and then perhaps some on the blog (just to get started).

I’m a college student majoring in English Education.  I’m twenty years old (or I will be soon enough), and I really like to think about things.  I also like writing, so here we are.  A blog where I write about the things about which I think.  It might be interesting or it really might not be, I’m mostly in it because it gives me an opportunity and a reason to edit the rambling pieces I tend to write.  I’m all about that self-improvement and reflection, yo.

I figured a blog was a good format for the pieces that I’ll be putting here because they’re not quite narratives and they’re not quite stories — not really meeting any standards for any genre I’d be interested in submitting for publication.  I might slip a poem in every here and there, but that’s just because I slip them in everywhere.  It’s called “All Good Things” because that’s something of a life philosophy that I’ve adopted recently.  What are you doing with your life?  All good things.  And the url is standsforthesun because every iteration of “All Good Things” that I tried was taken.  It’s also taken from a quote often attributed to van Gogh about the color yellow: “How wonderful yellow is; it stands for the sun” (van Gogh probably never said anything of the sort, but it’s a nice sentiment, and I really do love the color yellow, so here we are).

So no, this isn’t a literature blog, nor is it a food blog or a makeup blog.  I’m writing this post while I’m abroad, but I don’t quite have the funds to make this a travel blog.  It’s really just a rather yellow place where I’ll sometimes write about some (or all) of those things in turn.  If you’d like to read, please feel free.  If you’re not, that’s okay too.  Peace, friends.  Talk to you soon.
